WORK BASED DIPLOMA COURSES

This is a 12 or 24 month option. Ideally suited to those leaving school and if you wish to gain your BHS qualifications alongside the programme. 

  • Six day week

  • 10 specific training sessions per week

  • Practical yard duties included, which is essential for your general education, and to be successful in your exams

  • Training sessions will be made up of a mixture of the following

    • BHS Exam training 

    • WBD/ Tech Cert training.

    • Riding lessons.

    • Practical and theory stable management.

  • Those at appropriate level will also have Stage 2 Teach training incorporated in addition.

  • The course is run through Abingdon & Witney College and as such you will be registered as a student with the College, whilst training on the Outreach Programme.

  • Maths and English tuition if required to achieve the required standard.

  • This may be run as a standalone course (i.e. without BHS tuition) but would be non-residential and part time.

Prerequisites 

​

  • 16 years of age min

  • GCSE English and Maths an advantage 4 or above

  • UK Resident only  

  • Acceptance is based on interview and two week trial to ensure suitability.

  • Cost of accommodation is fully inclusive of all bills, with the exception of your mobile phone bill, and personal items.

  • All meals are prepared and the accommodation is cleaned regularly

  • Living in is not compulsory but preferred

  • City & Guilds Level 2 Technical Certificate in Equine Care

  • City & Guilds Level 3 Advanced Technical Certificate in Equine Care
